BIOGRAPHY

In January 2023, Brendan Laverty had the perfect idea of how he wanted to spend his 30th birthday. A collective of long time friends and musicians coming together to play three full hours of the music they grew up on, in front of a live crowd. What he didn't know is that it would end up being the best live show any of them had ever played, and it would be the inception of "When We Were Thirty."

A combination of Watertown originated bands, Against What's Best and The Northmen, it wasn't long before word spread around the North Country that a new group had formed. They were quickly approached by promoters in the area looking to book them for upcoming shows, the problem was that this was never actually considered a band, rather than a one time thing. The idea of continuing what was already a huge success in January was too exciting to pass up, thus 6 of the original 9 musicians got back together to make something of the buzz that was growing.
Playing an extensive collection of 2000's Pop-Punk and Emo, from Blink 182, Taking Back Sunday, My Chemical Romance, and many more, the 20-30 year old demographic in the region that grew up with these bands finally had the live entertainment they needed. In just over a year time, When We Were Thirty performed anywhere from The Downtown Block Party in Watertown's Public Square, to The Gig at Turning Stone Casino in Verona NY. Consistently renewing their ever growing set list to include their own Pop-Punk versions of popular songs like fan favorite, "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers, you're never getting the same performance twice.

When We Were Thirty show no signs of slowing down coming off their performance in Sackets Harbor's annual Brew York Festival. The band is hard at work looking to expand their reach in 2025.
